Jora highlights development of Ladakh under Congress led govt

Azad led coalition government has focused attention on creation and augmentation of infrastructure in all vital sectors of economy to ensure speedy and equitable development in all regions and areas of the state.
This was stated by the Power Minister Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora while addressing a big rally at Leh Pologround where about 7000 people had gathered despite cold weather.
The Minister dwelt in detail on the progress registered in Ladakh during the present government. He said that it was the result of his endeavors alongwith Social Welfare Minister Haji Nissar Ali that Leh and Kargil Hill Councils were empowered and adequate powers & perks were allotted to the Chief Executive Councillor and the Executive Councilors. It was the present government headed by Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad that two tehsils were created in Ladakh besides carving out three blocks to streamline the development in un-developed areas.
Referring to power scenario in the district Mr. Jora said that diesel generators of the capacity of 4.5 MWA have been added to Diesel Power House at Choglamsar to provide electricity to Leh town and its vicinity. Earlier this power house had the capacity to generate only 4 MW power in winter for Leh city. He further said that diesel generators have been brought for installation at Wanla, Lamayouru, Dha-Bema, Tigar, Takshi and Mangyu of different capacities.
Jora said that it was the endeavor of the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad that Rs. 6 crore were brought from the center for construction of Dharma Centre and Old age home for monks, of this Rs.2.17 crore were got released in advance, he maintained. Other developments of Leh, he said included introduction of PMGSY, NABARD funded projects, model villages, construction of prestigious 44 MW Alchi project and added that it was the duty of Hill Council to implement these schemes vigorously in the district.
Jora also referred to the government's resolve of giving due representation to Ladakh based retired distinguished officers and devoted leaders. He said Mr. C. Phunsog has been made Advisor to Government, Er. Sonam Dawa Member Financial Commission, Dr. Mohammad Deen Secretary Finance Commission etc.
Jora lambasted the Hill Council for misleading the people and creating an impression that state government is not supporting development in Leh district.
