Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 7: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) through its Sports Training Centre (STC) Udhampur presented the quarterly stipend cheques amounting Rs 1500 to 43 football and five female basketball day boarders (trainees) at Mini-Stadium Parade, here this evening. The cheques were handed over the trainees in presence of Assistant Director STC Udhampur, B S Tirthi and office bearers of the respective associations. At Basketball court, treasurer of Basketball Federation of India and general secretary of J&K unit, Prem Pal Singh presented cheques in the presence of SAI basketball coach, Rajinder Magotra. Later, in a similar manners, joint secretary (Jammu wing) of the J&K Football Association, Shiv Pal Sharma, international footballer, Arun Malhotra, Assistant Director STC Udhampur, B S Tirthi and football coach, Sat Pal Singh presented the cheques. “Boys are happy on receiving their first installment of stipend amount after their obsorption in the day boarding scheme of the SAI. It is the beginning, more incentives and exposure to follow in near future,” SAI coordinator and senior football coach, Mohinder Verma told Sports & Allied News. Speaking to the trainees, Shiv Pal Sharma and Arun Malhotra laid stress on punctuality and hard work.
