| Seminar on “importance of water resources” held | | |
Srinagar, August 22, –National Society for Protection of Water Resources, wetlands and forests organized a seminar on “importance of water resources” in collaboration with PHE department at Hussaini Park Gund Habbibhat here today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Mrs. Dilshada Khan was chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Dilshada felicitated the society for organizing seminar for creating awareness among the general masses and school children regarding importance of preservation of water resources. She said that the valley, the paradise on earth is known for its fresh water and natural resources in the form of lakes, streams, river and springs but still it does not get adequate supply of safe drinking water because these water bodies are being misused and polluted.
Mrs Dilshada said that Srinagar city is expanding day by day and the water supply schemes are under tremendous strain. “Government has launched various centrally and state funded schemes for the city under NURM. A 9 km tunnel is proposed to be constructed from Prang to Rangil to get 210 cusecs of safe raw water to generate about 75 MGD of potable drinking from treatment plants at Rangil, Alustang and Nishat besides, 10 MGD plant at Tangmarg with river Jehlum, she added.
In essay writing competition, Mr Mir Hafiz, Miss Amreen and Mr Javid Hussain were adjudged first second and third respectively. Mr Javid Hussain, Ms. Irm Khan and Mr. Adil Hussain declared first, second and third respectively in painting competition. Besides, in debate competition, Ms Jameela Ali, Ms Shafia and Mr. Faheen stood first, second and third respectively.
As many as, 60 students from various schools of the area participated in essay writing, debate and painting competition and expressed their views about the topic.
Earlier, the school children marched from one village to another holding placards depicting slogans regarding the topic.
The Chief Guest distributed certificate and trophies among the winners. The students also presented colourful cultural programme on the occasion.
Chief Engineer PHE, Mr A.R. Baig and Senior Superintendent of Police, Civil Defence, Mr Ghulam Sarbar also spoke on the occasion.
Chairman, National Society for Protection of Water Resources, wetlands and forests, Mr Nazir Benazir presented vote of thanks.

Adjustment of CPOs ordered
Srinagar, August 22 (INFO)- On their placement as Chief Prosecuting Officers (CPOs) in their own pay and grade, the Director General of Police Mr. Gopal Sharma has ordered adjustment of 12 CPOs.
Mr. Bashir Ahmand Wani has been adjusted as CPO Courts PD Kulgam, Mr. Nissar Hussain Draboo as CPO Vigilance, Mr. Gulshan Ahmad Kaloo as CPO Vigilance, Mr. Ichpal Singh as CPO CID Hqrs, Mr. Syed Abdul Bari as CPO DPO Srinagar, Mr. Reyaz Ahmad Darzi as CPO Courts Kupwara, Mr. Parshotam Lal as CPO Border Jammu, Mr. Subhash Chander Sharma as CPO SKPA Udhampur, Mr. Maroof Ahmad Manhas as CPO Courts, Jammu, Mr. Murtaza Nasir as CPO Courts, Kargil, Mr. Mahesh Kumar as CPO DPO Rajouri, Mr. Ravinder Kumar Rao as CPO Courts Kathua.
One post of CPO SKPA Udhampur has been attached with DPO Srinagar for drawal of pay of Syed Abdul Bari, CPO and one post of CPO RPHQ Doda is attached with Border District Jammu for drawal of pay of Mr. Parshotam Lal, CPO.
Consequent upon the above adjustments the transfer of 10 Chief Prosecuting Officers has been ordered with immediate effect.
Mr. Mustaq Ahmad Zaroo, CPO Court Kupwara has been transferred and posted as CPO DPO Baramulla vice Mr. Mustaq Amad Pandit. Mr. Mustaq Ahamd Pandit, CPO DPO Baramulla has been transferred and posted as CPO Courts Baramulla against clear vacancy. Mr. Mohd Amin Khosa, CPO Vigilance has been transferred and posted as CPO Armed Police Headquarters against clear vacancy. Mr. Javed Kirmani, CPO TADA Court Srinagarhas been transferred and posted as CPO Police Headquarters vice Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Khan. Mr. Gopi Krishan, CPO SKPA, Udhampur has been transferred and posted as CPO DPO Udhampur against clear vacancy. Mr. Abdul Khaliq, CPO DPO Rajouri has been transferred and posted as CPO Courts Rajouri against clear vacancy. Mr. Abdul Rashid, CPO Courts, PD Kulgam has been transferred and posted as CPO TADA Court, Srinagar vice Mr. Javed Kirmani. Mr. R.R. Bakshi. CPO Courts Kathua has been transferred and posted as CPO Crime & Railways, Jammu against clear vacancy. Mr. Munshi Zulfikar Ahmad, CPO Courts Budgam has been transferred and posted as CPO PTS, Manigam against clear vacancy and Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, CPO Police Headquarters has been transferred and posted as CPO Courts Budgam vice Munshi Zulfikar Ahmad.
Further the post of CPO, Kargil attached with ZPHQ Kashmir for drawal of pay of Mr. Farid-ud-din, CPO has been detached and restored to district Kargil. The pay of Mr. Farid-ud-din, CPO shall be drawn at ZPHQ Kashmir against the vacant post of DDP ZPHQ Kashmir. He shall continue to remain attached with SHRC. |
