| Farmers torch Azad’s effigy | | Protest against alleged fresh restrictions on farming in R S Pura border sector | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 7 : Large number of farmers in RS Pura today held protest demonstrations and burnt effigy of state Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to highlight problems faced by them in view of fresh restrictions imposed by the security forces on their movement. The farmers also submitted a memorandum listing their genuine demands to the SDM Rs Pura and set a deadline of December 14 for divisional commissioner and Inspector General BSF to come to RS Pura to listen to their genuine problems and take appropriate measures to resolve the issue. The protestors were led by the Paramjeet Singh Tony of National conference.The farmers while shouting slogans said ever since emergency has been clamped in Pakistan situation on the border in RS Pura sector is volatile.The farmers said the security forces have imposed restriction son their movement in the fields making their life miserable.If a farmer is not allowed to cultivate his fields how will he earn his livelihood, large number of farmers raised this question after burning the chief Ministers effigy blaming the state govt for remaining mute spectators towards their hardships. |
