| AWs threatens mass agitation in support of demands | | Accuse SW dept of deceiving workers | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 7 The Anganwari workers would launch a mass agitation on December 12 against what they call deceptive attitude of government with regard to release of their salaries and payment of nutrition bills despite having sufficient funds. Addressing a press Conference president Anganwari Workers Welfare Association Sawana Choudahry accused government of deceiving the workers by not releasing the salaries and pending nutrition bills in time on the plea that the social welfare department is starved of funds. She said the department is deliberately withholding the salary of the workers despite having sufficient funds in its kitty. "While the Union Social Welfare Minister Renuka Choudhary categorically told a deputation of the Association that the state is getting its funds under ICDS well before time, contrary to her assertions , the state minister Haji Nisar comes every time with the same excuse of lack of funds when ever the workers demand their dues.", she alleged. She said "instead of addressing the long pending demand of enhancing the salaries of the workers, the social welfare department is not even giving what is due to us for last seven months" Highlighting the demands of the Anganwari workers which among other things include enhancement of salaries, Swarna said that the Association has decided to come on roads to give an awakening call to the slumbering government. She said since the workers are not getting even the meager monthly honorarium of Rs 1200 for months together they are forced to come on roads, adding that as many of them have reached on the verge of starvation . |
