Jammu | Dec 7 :Three Assembly members of Panthers Party led by Harsh Dev Singh, today fired a salvo direct against the Azad led Government when they staged a dharna in front of the civil secretariat. Before starting the dharna the three MLAs marched on foot upto the entrance of the secretariat building shouting anti-Government slogans.
Secretariat employees came out of their office rooms and watched the drama enacted by the Panthers Party MLAs,including Yashpal Kundal, and Balwant Singh Mankotia.
Harsh Dev singh said that the party MLAs had been forced to resort to dharna in front of the civil secretariat to highlight the zero performance of the coalition Government. He said that an inquiry against the Planning Department was warranted because it has been releasing funds for various developments works on “extraneous considerations.”He said the Government has failed to implement the decisions taken by the cabinet and the District Development boards.
The Panthers Party MLAs accused ministers of a breach of privilege because they had not fulfilled the assurances they had dished out on the floor of the Assembly.Blaming the Government for total failure on all fronts Harsh Dev Singh said that it was unfortunate that the ruling coalition had further raised the level of regional discrimination. In this connection he referred to the disparity in wages given to PHE daily wagers in Kashmir and those in the Jammu region. He said that while the daily wagers in the PHE would get Rs.2100 per month those in the Jammu region received Rs.500.He said the issue had been raised on several occasions in the state legislature and ministers had given an assurance that this discrimination would be ended but till date it was there.
They held the PHE authorities, including the minister, responsible for continued mess in drinking water supply system. Harsh Dev said that people continue to suffer on account of drinking water shortage. Dubbing the ruling coalition as a bunch of irresponsible people the Panthers Party demanded early Assembly election so as to provide to people an opportunity to elect a Government of their choice.
