| Dunai residents forced to drink unsafe water; courtesy PHE Deptt | | | Early Times Reporter Samba | Dec 07 All claims of the good governance and for the cause of the people made by the Minister for PHE and his ministry for supply of better drinking water seemed to be at zero and shattered as people at Dunai are drinking water from the conventional sources of water. Ironically the little village catering 5000 souls just 14 kms away from the main town of Samba are still forced to drink water from the conventional sources of water i.e. ponds etc. lacking the supply of the safe drinking water. In today’s world these hapless odds souls are suffering various water borne diseases due to the use of unsafe water from the open. Some villagers told this correspondent that PHE department few months ago attempted to dug a bore well for the supply of fresh water but first the work went on the snail’s pace after its completion the motor (pump) failed to bring smiles on the faces of the villagers. ‘Untill today no technical help came to rectify the technical snag of the pump that left the people of Dunai once again high and dry with our hopes fell flat to the grounds, lamented another villager. The villagers alleged that step motherly treatment meted out to them not only has rendered them prone to the various water borne diseases but also put extra burden of the medicines for their no fault. When contacted one official at the PHE office on anonymity told that the an estimate for the repair of the pump has been sent to the concerned higher authorities as soon as the nod is given we will resort to work. |
