| PDP's youth policy a roadmap for prosperity of future generations: Sayeed | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 8 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has said the Youth Development Policy unveiled by the party recently is aimed at putting the State's youth at the centre of the developments taking place around them. Interacting with the PDP youth wing leaders at his official residence here today, Sayeed said the PDP believes that the youth of the State have the right to seek meaningful employment, freedom of expression, participation in decision-making and protection from socio-economic and political manipulation. "PDP's Youth Development Policy is aimed at devising sustainable strategies to support young people in developing their potential, improve their living conditions, and give them a greater voice in political decision-making processes," he said ad added that the State's political leadership needs to respect and ensure the rights of youth in order to avoid a further deterioration of the situation for coming generations. Sayeed said this requires development cooperation policies, programs and approaches that take the concerns and needs of youth into account while lending economical, social and political support to young people, both men and women equally. He said the Government, development agencies and local partner organizations need to devise multi-sectoral strategies that will enable the State's young people to face current and future challenges. The PDP Patron said the party would strive for developing and implementing strategies that give the State's young people a real chance to find decent and productive work. He said a roadmap has been laid for the overall development of the youth in the party's Youth Development Policy that would be carried forward for the welfare of its target group. Responding to the demands of the students from the Jammu University, Sayeed said the Government must provide adequate security to the students to avoid their harassment and unnecessary trouble at the campus. PDP leaders Ved Mahajan and Renu Azad were also present on the occasion. |
