Jammu | Dec 8 : Exhibitors who arrived here to participate in the state level Khadi Gram udyog exhibition at Parade ground were found cursing themselves on the very first day of the start of the exhibition as the organizers failed to extend facilities promised to them at the time of confirming their participation.
In the absence of accommodation and other basic amenities at the venue of the exhibition large number of exhibitors felt cheated by the organizers of the event.
Though the event was scheduled to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister GhulamNabi Azad himself yet lack of coordination and poor arrangements were all visible at the venue of the exhibition on the first day.
Without disclosing their identity large number of exhibitors shared their horrific experiences of the first day. An exhibitor who came all the way from Srinagar along with huge stock of handicraft and woolens was asked to spend night in the open at the venue of the exhibition to his utter surprise. Talking to media men the exhibitor claimed, when we approached the organiseras to do some alternative arrnagments we were told that our allotment would be cancelled.Expressing shock over such treatment the exhibitor said, "at the time of sending invitations to us the organizers had claimed that they will provide us accommodation and other facilities but when we landed here we were told to arrange our own accommodation”. The exhibitor said since we arrived late in the evening we were not expecting such a shabby treatment from the organizers. He said, if organisers were not ready to provide accommodation facility they should not have mislead us. “We are capable of arranging our own accommodation but the organizers cheated us”.
Secondly he said, the stalls allotted to us were still not ready. The painters are still painting the stalls causing lot of inconvenience to us. “We cannot display our goods properly”, another exhibitor claimed raising question marks on the overall arrangements made at the venue.
