| Post-accreditation interactive meet begins | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 8 Director National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Banglore Professor V. S. Prasad today inaugurated two- day awareness programme and accreditation and post-accreditation interactive meet at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar here this morning. Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education and Technical Education Pramodh Jain, Director Colleges Dr. N. D.Wani, Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar Prof. Veena Gupta, Principal GCW Parade, Professor Usha Jayee, Coordinator IQAC, Professor Hemla Agarwal and other Principals, Professors, Lecturers and staff members of different colleges of Jammu district were also present. Addressing the gathering, Prasad said that the need for introducing the New Methodology of Assessment and Accreditation, both, as a continuous process of evolution of methodologies as well as to make the A/A process of NAAC more credible and objective. He expressed that NAAC would join hands with UGC Academic staff colleges as important nodal centers for both, disseminating the process changes of NAAC to all stakeholders, and training of Assessors and Resource persons, as per the requirements and directions of NAAC, from time to time. In his address, Jain said that the aim of meet to help and prepare the non-accredited Degree Colleges and Private B.ed colleges to go through the process of NAAC Accreditation and Assessment. He said that more would definitely play a role in raising the standard of Education in the state. He said that Quality Assurance cell has been striving for quality education standards in the state and it has successfully conducted such programmes in the Kashmir division. Director Colleges Dr. N. D. Wani also spoke on the occasion and said that globalization of education and changing needs of the market has thrown a challenge for institutions of higher learning, world over. He said that the survival of the fittest is gaining more relevance in education sector. In such a situation effecting excellence in academics by assuring quality at different levels is assuming great significance. He said that the assessment and accreditation of institutions of higher learning by NAAC has to be looked at as a step in the direction of making quality as defining element of higher education. Post accreditation context assumes equally special significance to surge forward from quality sustenance to quality enhancement. Later, Professor V. S. Prasad and Jain released SLQACC report, Souvenir, News Letter and IQAC report of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. |
