| J&K set for an outright win against Goa | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 9: After forcing follow-on on the second day of the match, Jammu and Kashmir it set to register an outright victory over Goa in the Cooch Behar under-19 cricket tournament underway at Patiala in Punjab. Losing their seven wickets for 94 runs in the second innings, Goa still need 62 runs to level the first innings score of J&K. Sailing on first innings total of 284, J&K today bowled out Goa for 128 runs in 31.3 overs thereby forcing a follow on. It was Muddassar, who reduced Goa to a small total with his career best seven for 47 in 17.3 overs. Ram Dayal and Parvez Rasool took two and one wicket respectively. Following on, Goa made a poor start and lost their seven wickets for 94 runs in 45 overs at the end of day two play today. Saroz Dongra was top scorer from Goa with 55 runs. From J&K, Manik Gupta emerged as most successful bowler with four for 29 in 18 overs while Muddassar, Ram Dayal and Parvez Rasool shared a piece each. “The recent sensational victory against Tripura built a lot of confidence among the boys and I’m sure they will not allow Goa to level the score,” manager of the team A H Kazmi told Sports & Allied News. Kazmi maintained that the boys are aiming at an outright victory over formidable Goa tomorrow. “If J&K manage to make it an innings defeat and get the bonus points, the state will be better placed to qualify for the knock-out stage,” the team manager said. |
