| ‘Suno Eh Kahani’, enthralled audience | | Natrang Sunday theatre | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 9 Dogri Play “Suno Eh Kahani”, enthralled the audience with its powerful acting and direction staged at Abhinav Theatre here today. The play based on the traditional performance modes demonstration the power of contemporary Dogri Theatre. Balwant Thakur while elaborating about the play said the play has set and example that are entertaining super comedy can be hundred times more effective in educating masses. The Play ‘Suno Eh Kahani is based on the story of a young girl who is being forced to marry at an early age of fourteen. “Guddi’ the central character of this play is representative of a major section or rural lower middle class adolescent young girls, who are the victims of matrimony at a very tender age. Guddi is fully aware of the strains of early marriage, as it has taken its toll in untimely death of her mother. She wants to grow and get educated before she takes up the responsibility of married life. Her dreams are shattered, a ‘suitable’ groom is found and marriage date is fixed. While the marriage ceremonies and decision of marriage is deferred for appropriate time. The play highlights the plight of young girls who are sacrificed at the altar of rotten, redundant customs of illiterate and ignorant sections of our society. The two narrators of the play Mohit Sharma and Pankush Verma demonstrated their professional skills and versatility in singing, dancing and acting. Deepak Virdi played the role of father with full confidence and command whereas Sajara Qadir as Guddi was amazing both in her performance strengthen and grip over the play. Gaurav Jamwal played in the role of a police cop and Rohit Verma as Groom did justice with their performances. Others who acted well included Rahul Singh, Mohd. Yasing, Ankush Lakhnotra. |
