| Gujjars decry govt. for depriving community of reservation | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 9: Coming down heavily on coalition government, Gujjar United Front(GUF) on Sunday alleged that community is being deprived of reservation both in employment and promotions. Addressing media presons in a press conference here on Sunday, President GUF, Anwar Choudhery said that since the advent of coalition rule in the state in 2002, Gujjar community is being ignored as a result of which unemployment in community is increasing with every passing day. "During last five years of coalition rule 31,000 teachers have been recruited in education department across the state but non of them belonged to ST category because government does not adhere to reservation rules," he said. He further said that unlike past, the youth of the community are not even being recruited in Police as being educationally backward they do not fulfill the requisite qualifications. "There is hardly 2.5 percent literacy rate among Gujjars and by no way they fulfill the required qualification for getting recruited in Police unless and until government makes some special concessions in this regard," he said. The coalition has done nothing else than lip services for upliftment of backward community of the state which has exposed the community people to all sorts of miseries, he said. Those present on the occasion included Haji Mohammed Hussain, Dr. Gafoor, Arshad Choudhery, Choudhery Hussain Ali, Choudhery Rehmet Ali, Haji Shah Mohammed and others. |
