Former Minister and sitting Member Legislative Council, Mohammad Sharief Niaz while campaigning for Congress candidate for Poonch Assembly segment Jhangir Mir has urged upon the electorate to ensure victory of the party nominee with a huge margin to defeat the adversaries of the party. To vote Congress is to vote for peace and stability’, Niaz said while addressing series of election rallies at Adai-Haveli and Beddar.
The coalition government in just five year’s rule in the state, he said, is credited with several achievements which could not be accomplished during the last five decades adding that several far reaching decisions aiming at the welfare and development of the people have been initiated during this period, especially during the Azad led two year’s rule.
He said that what the previous governments could not do Azad did it in the first year of his Chief Ministership and in this connection referred to the implementation of Wazir Commission Report. Elaborating further, he said, the Congress led government not only implemented the Wazir Commission recommendations but gone far ahead by carving out eight new districts against the three recommended by the Commission. Not only this, the government has also opened the new University campus at several places including Bhaderwah, Kathua and in the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri, besides constituting Finance Commission and passing a revolutionary land reforms ‘Roshni Act’.
The Congress leader has impressed upon the electorate to differentiate between the friend and the foe and reject all those forces inimical to the peace and stability of the state . He said the people are the best judge to evaluate the working of the present and the previous governments and asked the voters to ensure success of the Congress candidate with a thumping majority.
