| Sheikh XI lifts cricket tourney | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 10: Sheikh XI lifted the Sher-e-Kashmir memorial cricket tournament beating DDC by two wickets in the final which was played at Degree College grounds Rajouri. The tournament was organized by Baba Ghulam Bhadshah Sports Authority. Batting first after winning the toss, DCC scored 128 runs in 25 overs, which Sheikh XI chased in 24.5 overs for the loss of eight wickets. The winners got a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and glittering trophy while runners up given away Rs 5000 as prize money. Rohan was declared man of the series and was presented a cash prize of Rs 2000. Best bowlers, Mehmeed and Mukhtar received a cash prize of Rs 1000 each. Member Parliament and president of J&K Cricket Association, Dr Farooq Abdullah was chief guest in the final, who distributed prizes while Talib Hussain presided over. In his address, Dr Adbullah promised a financial assistance of Rs five lakh for cricket facilities at the ground. |
