| Sports Minister in Chandigarh to speak to ICL | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 10: Little bothered about the political developments in the state, the Minister of State for Sports, Babu Singh is at present camping at Chandigarh to hold detailed deliberations with the people from Indian Cricket League (ICL) there. Left Jammu on December 8 morning, the Minister accompanied by the Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Ravinder Gupta is finalizing the terms and conditions with the ICL representatives including former chairman selection committee of BCCI, Kiran More, the sources told Sports & Allied News. The sources further revealed that the State Government has made up mind to finally rent out two major sports venues of MA Stadium Jammu and Bakshi Stadium Srinagar to the Cricket League for holding national and international matches. As per the sources, the ICL has shown keen interest in promoting cricket in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of poor infrastructure for the game and mess in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, a BCCI affiliated unit in the state. It may be recalled that the Sports Minister has already made it clear that his ministry wants to raise funds for the overall development of sports in the state. He has also indicated that the government is interested in such deals with the sports bodies to bring in a chance in the present sports scenario. |
