| BJP fears foul play in next Assembly elections | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 10: Terming the by-elections of Poonch Haveli constituency as clear indicator for coming State Assembly elections, Bhartia Janta Party on Monday feared foul play in ensuing Assembly elections, accusing both congress and National conference of resorting to unfair means. Addressing Media persons in a press conference on Monday, former BJP President and senior leader, Nirmal Singh said that by- election of Poonch Haveli constituency is a test case for coming state Assembly elections and the way congress and National Conference are using unfair methods at Poonch- Haveli, it is amply clear that the general elections for state Assembly wouldn't be held in free and fair manner. He further said that both National Conference and Congress enjoy little public support in the constituency and this is the only reason they resort to unfair means. " The anti incumbency factor would go against both NC and Congress as people of the constituency are faced with all sorts of miseries due to non availability of water, electricity, road connectivity and communication," he said. Criticizing the government for not providing security to BJP workers at Poonch Haveli, Nirmal said that this was a deliberate attempt of authorities to restrain the movement of BJP during electioneering. "Barring BJP, workers of all the parties are provided with adequate security cover and it is a deliberate move to restrict our free movement for electioneering across the constituency," he added. He also appealed the Chief Minister to inquire into the matter of use of government machinery by congress at Poonch Haveli. |
