A Special Task Force (STF) personnel was killed in an encounter when militants opened fire on the party at Bityal area under the jurisdiction of police station Gool in Ramban district.
According to reports at mid night a STF team was returning back after an operation and the militants, who laid an ambush in the Bityal area of Gool, opened fire on the party in which one jawan namely Gagan Deep Sharma resident of Marh Kothey, Domana died on the spot. Sources said the team also retaliated the fire and after an hour long encounter the militants fled from the spot under the cover of darkness. Sources said the militants hiding on the top of the mountain easily managed to escape after the encounter.
The body was later shifted to hospital for postmortem and handed over to family members for last rites. The search operation was still in progress when the last reports came in. |
