| 3rd CII Outsourcing summit-New Delhi | | Come to Kashmir, create success stories: Mir to IT, BPO industry | | New Delhi | Dec 10: Describing Information Technology (IT) as a potential source of employment for the educated youth in the state, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Muhammad Dillawar Mir today asked the IT and BPO industry of the country to come out of the geographical confines of few areas and create success stories by venturing in other areas like Jammu and Kashmir. Delivering the inaugural address at the 3rd Outsourcing Summit-2007 held by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here today, the Minister said Indian software industry has provided efficient solution to the problem of youth unemployment and it is able to provide a plethora of activities in future also. He said IT industry has enormous influence over global economy, both in size and scale. Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Mir said the state is seized of the enormity of facilities for creation of IT infrastructure like pollution free atmosphere, good hospitality, pool of young manpower etc. He said already a Software Technology Park(STP) has been created at Rangreth where hundreds of youth are associated with this industry. Asking the Indian corporate to invest in Kashmir, the Minister said the state has a lot to offer them. He said with their investment the people of the state would be reminded that the entire country is with them to share their suffering due to the turmoil. He said the state Government has already given tax concessions and other benefits to the industry in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier in his address, chairman CII(Northern region), Deep Kapuria said the BPO industry contributes about 9% to the country's GDP and sought enrollment of more and more youth within the ambit of the industry. |
