| Raghunath Bazaar opens to vehicles | | Court lift traffic restrictions, conditionally | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 10: Smiled were returned on the faces of the traders as the Jammu and Kashmir High Court in a landmark decision allowed traffic movement in the heritage shopping mall of Raghunath Bazaar. The trade economy of the Raghunath Bazaar was literally at the verge of collapse with many shop owners running bankrupt as customers were not pouring in following a traffic restriction order of the High Court. Many traders had even planned to set up their showrooms in places like Gandhi Nagar as customers did not show any interest in visiting Raghunath Bazaar due to traffic restrictions. Today's court decision, which has been widely welcomed by the traders, is for a limited period and is on experimental basis. The Division Bench of J&K High Court Jammu Wing comprising Acting Chief Justice Nisar Ahmed Kakru and Justice YP Nargotra today in a significant order allowed the traffic to move from Ragunath Bazaar. This order has been passed on the basis of alternate plan proposed by the SSP Traffic. DB today in the open Court has directed that on the basis of the alternate plan proposed by the SSP Traffic to move traffic from Ragunath Bazaar on experimental and this will reexamined on next date of hearing. Regarding the shifting of transport companies and application and application filed by the transport companies, DB allowed the transport companies to operate from city with granted 10 days time to Court Counsel Sr. Adv DC Raina to reply to the application filed by the transporters. Advocate General has also response in the meantime a proposal which was also placed before the Court for having traffic sanitary for observations of the traffic from a particular height. It is also stated by the Advocate General Mr. AH Naik that the categories of District & Sessions Judges have been included Red-Flasher Lights in their respective Districts. |
