Security beefed up at Delhi airport after e-mail threat
12/17/2007 10:26:27 AM
New Delhi | Dec 17
Security in and around the Indira Gandhi International Airport was beefed up on Monday after an Air India call centre received an e-mail threatening to blow up the airport on January 12.
Sources in Air India said that the AI call centre, located at Udyog Vihar in Gurgaon, received an e-mail on Sunday threatening that the International airport would be blown up on January 12.
Assistant security manager of the IGI Harsh Kumar informed the Udyog Vihar police station about the e-mail and an FIR was filed based on the complaint.
Though sources in the Air India said that it was a non specific threat, the police have tightened security in and around the international airport as a precautionary measure.
The Gurgaon police have instituted a team from the Cyber Crime Department to investigate the origin of the threatening e-mail.
The latest e-mail threat follows another e-mail received by several TV channels a few weeks ago threatening to carry out blasts in several areas of Delhi in the coming weeks.
