| Romesh for propagating Khadi, Village udyog | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 17 Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Dr. Ramesh Chander Sharma said that Khadi and Village Industries were important component of industrial growth in the state and should be encouraged for propagation. Dr. Sharma was addressing at the closing function of 10-day State Level Khadi Gramodyog Exhibition here this evening. The exhibition was organized by J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board. Sharma said that for the betterment of traders and artisans various measures were underway to ameliorate their lot. He said that such exhibitions provide a platform for the manufacturers, traders and buyers to sell and buy products. Holding of such exhibition have also proved very successful for promoting Khadi produce and safe guard the interest of the manufacturers and artisans. During the exhibition sales worth Rs. 42.84 lakh have been affected and visitors have shown keen interest in the products exhibited and displayed in the exhibition. Speaking on the occasion Secretary KVIB said that 62 Khadi and Village Industries Units participated in the exhibition besides the Departments of Handloom, JKI, Women Development Corporation and unit holders from Northern states. He said that about 84,000 persons visited the exhibition. A coloruful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion. The Minister also gave away prizes to the organizers and best stall holders. Joint Director of Information Jammu Mr. S. K. Sharma was also awarded for best publicity of the event. Earlier, Minister took round the stalls and took stock of the products exhibited in the exhibition. |
