| HC directs competent authority to file affidavit | | Border area migrants seek relief, compensation | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 18 Justice YP Nargotra of J&K High Court, Jammu Wing, in a petition filed in the larger interest of border area migrants, who left their houses and land due to laying to mines in their land, has directed the Advocate Deepika Mahajan, appearing for the respondents, to file an affidavit of the competent authority to show as to how much land of the petitioner's is in the occupation of the Army or the land over which they have laid the mines. It shall also be indicated in respect of the land over which the mines have been laid, whether any compensation has been paid or is required to be paid. The names of the persons to whom the compensation has been paid or required to be paid shall also be disclosed; affidavits be filed within four weeks. Justice YP Nargotra also directed Adv Surinder Kour, appearing for the petitioners, to file an affidavit of the petitioner's for showing as to how many migrants of village Chaprial and Sawan are living in the migrant camps. These directions were passed in a writ petition filed by Sangarsh Yuva seeking relief for the border area migrants and passing direction to the State Government to treat these migrants and provide them all the facilities as provided to other migrants. |
