| Saari Raat staged | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 18 On the fourth day of annual drama festival-2007 organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages celebrating the Golden Jubilee, a Hindi Play Saari Raat staged by Rhythem Theatre Group under the direction of Shsiu Pal Khajuria was staged. The play has been translated in Hindi by Pratibha Aggarwal from Badal Sarcar’s original Bengali play. Exploring the subtle world of Love and Happiness the play Saari Raat was written in Bengali in 1970’s by Badal Sarcar. It portrays a novel interpretation of the difference between physical and mental love. Centered around these characters a couple, who in a rainy night takes shelter in a dilapidated house of an old man, the play unfolds with slow but intense pace. The restlessness of soul and yearnings of the female Streee for love is kindled by the intrigning old man. The subtle transformation from being told here inner most thoughts, longing, age changing the saree provided by the old mand the Vridh lead ultimately to the identification of the completeness of love for the Rajan in the old man as crystallization of both father and the lover for whom she is ready to sacrifice everything. The music of the play was composed by Vishal Gupta, Light designed by Jai Ram Ahuja, Make-Up by Shammi Dhameer, Costumes by Sonu Sharma and Property by Sonu Khajuria. The artists who performed on stage Rajeev Raina as Vridh, Seema Bhatti as Stree and Anil Kotwal as Purush were highly applauded by the audience. Tomorrow Manoranjan Kala Kendra presents Punjabi play Prindey Jaan Hun kithey under the direction of T.S. Premi. |
