The second phase of the ongoing inter-district state level athletics meet for boys and girls organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) was declared open by Prof Lokesh Verma, Director Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus here today.
In this phase the competitions in track and field events shall be held in under-19 girls and under-14 boys sections. The opening function was presided over by Deputy Director DYSS, S A Wani. Dr Sonam Angchuk, Assistant Director Physical Education, JU and S S Bali, Assistant Director DYSS were guests of honour.
Participating districts in these competitions, which are being organized under the overall supervision of organizing secretary, Assitant Director, Ashok Kumar, are Jammu, Udhampur, Poonch, Samba, Reasi, Kathua, Doda, Budgam, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara and Rajouri.

GIRLS: 800 mts race: Rekha Devi, Kathua, Ist; Ritu Sharma, Udhampur, 2nd and Sonia Devi, Samba, third. Javelin Throw: Reena Devi, Kishtwar, Ist; Priya Sharma, Kathua, 2nd and Ashu Sharma, Poonch, third. Long Jump: Suman Lata, Kathua, Ist; Pallav Kumari, Reasi, 2nd and Nisha Devi, Jammu, third.
BOYS: Shot Put: Deepak Kumar, Udhampur, Ist; Arnav Sharma, Jammu, 2nd; Kulbir Singh, 3rd. 600 mts race: Rohit Singh Bhau, Ist; Ajay Singh, 2nd; Gurnam Singh, Samba, third. |
