| AIFF observers clear Srinagar venues, to visit Jammu today | | | Early Ties Reporter Jammu | Dec 18 The two-member team of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) today expressed their satisfaction over the infrastructure raised by the J&K State Sports Council at Srinagar venues for hosting the prestigious Santosh Trophy in the state in May next. Soon after the observers landed at Srinagar, they straightway went to the Polo Ground and Baskshi Stadium and were happy to see the required infrastructure in place, general secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA), Bashir Malik told SAN Considered as crucial, the visit of two AIFF observers this time, third in a year, will decide whether to allot the event to J&K or not. The AIFF is expected to take a final decision on the 62nd edition of the national football tournament in its December 23 meeting at New Delhi. Earlier, after completing their visit to the proposed venue, Subrotta Dutta, who is also vice-president of the AIFF and Nasir Ali were satisfied with the infrastructure, said Bashir Malik. Now, after night stay at Srinagar, these observers shall be landing in Jammu tomorrow and are expected to go straightway to MA Stadium and GGM Science College grounds, the venues for the part of the event to be held at the Winter Capital. It may be recalled that during the last visit in November, the AIFF observers announced that only 50 per cent work had been completed till then. However, assurance from the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad that things would be in place when the observers will be paying their next visit helps J&K get another chance from the AIFF to improve the infrastructure further. |
