| JKCA come out of deep slumber, to hold tourney | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 18 The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has come out of the deep slumber and has now planned to hold activities involving the affiliated clubs of the Association. To begin with the Association has planned to organize a limited overs knock-out tournament at Jammu wherein about 22 of the 26 clubs as also member educational institutes are expected to take part. “To be organized under the name and style of `President Cup’, the tournament is scheduled to start from December 26 at GGM Science College Hostel ground,” joint secretary of JKCA Jammu wing, Sunit Sharma told SAN. The Association has asked all the affiliated clubs to confirm their participation by way of depositing a nominal amount of Rs 100 as entry fee before December 23 upto 4 pm at the JKCA Jammu office—16, New Rehari, Jammu.The draws shall take place on December 23 at 4.30 pm at the JKCA office, informed Sharma. Meanwhile, a number of Kashmir based clubs, including a couple of those owned by the migrants are also expected to participate in the tournament, which is being organized after a long time by the Association. It is pertinent to mention here that president of JKCA and Member Parliament, Dr Farooq Abdullah had recently disclosed that he has handed over a grant of Rs 50,000 to each affiliated club for raising their teams. |
