| SSWB organizes awareness camp for rural women | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 18 A 5-day awareness camp was organized by State Social Welfare Board (SSWB) in collaboration with NGO Women Welfare organization for rural women concluded at Amb village about twenty two kilometer from here the other day. Chairman for State Social Welfare Board G M Saroori was the chief guest while field officer SSWB Joytika Tanwar presided. Addressing the gathering, Saroori stressed upon the dropout women folk to come forward and assemble into self-help groups for availing benefits of state and centrally sponsored schemes being implemented through SSWB. He said that the present government led by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is taking keen interest to uplift the socio-economic condition of rural dropout women as well as girls by providing financial assistance for establishing income generating units at their doorstep. For this purpose, the government has launched number of welfare schemes to educate the dropouts besides imparting them training in embroidery, basket, mat, candle making and mushroom cultivation so that they earn their livelihood at their own level. He said that the government is also organizing similar type of camps in rural areas for women folk about their social status, health, hygiene, legal awareness, legal security for women, besides awareness against child marriage and dowry. Earlier, Field Officer SSWB apprised the gathering about various schemes launched by the state government for the welfare of women. On the occasion, local girls and students of Environment Educational Institute presented colourful cultural programme which was highly applauded by the audience. Later, Saroori Chairman SSWB distributed certificates among the participants of the camp. |
