| JMC launches massive anti encroachment, anti defacement drive | | | Jammu / Aug 22 The Enforcement Wing of Jammu Municipality today launched a massive anti encroachment drive against the various offenders. During the drive various type of encroachments were removed from various city locations. The drive started from B C Road and concluded at Shastri Nagar. Enforcement team led by Chief Enforcement Officer, Satish Khajuria and comprised of all the officials of Enforcement Wing, along with the helping staff started their drive from Shakuntla theatre where they removed roof top hoardings of “Airtel” and some other obscene posters. Team also went to Jewel theatre and also removed the roof top hoardings of “Airtel” from here. Some obscene posters were also removed from the Jewel Chowk area. In the second phase of its drive team visited Shakti Nagar locality and cleared the footpaths of the area from various type of encroachments. Team then proceeded towards Gandhi Nagar and stopped the unauthorized construction in a house at Apsara road. And in the last phase of its today’s drive team cleared the encroachments from the footpath of Shastri Nagar locality near Lakshmi Narayan temple. The JMC team also confiscated the goods lying on the footpaths. A strong pose of police personnel was also accompanying the team to ensure smooth conduct of today’s drive. Meanwhile, talking to “Early Times” Satish Khajuria said that umpteen opportunities were provided to these offenders for removing encroachments at their own but they didn’t responded. He informed that JMC might register a FIR against the private companies for displaying their hoardings on rooftops. He also informed that the drive is likely to be continuing for few more days to make the city free from the encroachments.
