| SVO produces challan against 11 Tech.Edu Department officials | | | Early Times Reporter

State Vigilance Organization today produced challan before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption at Srinagar, in Case FIR No.23/2007 U/S 120-B RPC r/w 5(1)(d) 5(2) P.C Act 2006 against Reyaz-ul-Amin, the then Assistant Director now Dy. Director Technical Education Kashmir, Suresh Singh Jamwal, the then Supervisor ITI Jammu, Ashok Kumar the then Motor Mechanic Instructor, ITI Jammu, Sheikh Shahid Saleem, Lecturer Department Mechanical Engineering NIT Srinagar, Saad Parvez Lecturer Department Mechanical Engineering NIT Srinagar, Masooda Yasin then Director Technical Education Kashmir, Janak Singh then FA&CAO Technical Education Department J&K, Mir Nazir Ahmad then Dy. Director Technical Education Kashmir, Balwant Singh then Superintendent ITI Jammu, Pyari Lal Suroop, Vinod Kumar Aggarwal (Suppliers) for purchasing equipment at exorbitant rates causing huge loss to the state exchequer.
The instant case was registered pursuant to the outcome of an enquiry wherein it was established that the Department of Technical Education J&K in the year 1997-98 had purchased 16 units of digital toe alignment machines model DTA-1, 9 for Kashmir division and seven for Jammu division @ Rs.1.70 lakh per unit from M/s VEE KAY Industries Ludhiana on exorbitant rates. During the investigation the actual rate of machines was found at Rs.90,000 per machine thereby causing a loss of Rs.12.80 lakhs to the state exchequer by the members of Purchase Committee and others.
The Court has fixed February 27, 2008 as next date of hearing of the case. |
