Jammu / Aug 22 Nominees for the State Awards from Jammu today left for Srinagar this afternoon to receive the prestigious award at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar on August 24. Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha will honour about 50 personalities including journalists, academicians, bureaucrats, writers, sportspersons, doctors and social workers with State Awards for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields. Out of the total 17 distinguished personalities selected from Jammu District for State Awards 12 left for Srinagar from Satwari Airport this afternnon. Prominent among those are Dushyant Sharma, Dy SP Police Control Room (PCR), who is being decorated for his outstanding contribution to sports. Prof R R Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof Ram Nath Shastri, a noted writer and a Sahitya Akademi award winner, Prof Aman Rathore, former Secretary J&K Board of School Education and Champa Sharma, former HoD Dogri in Jammu University. Ved Rahi, a renowned producer and director of Bollywood, Kavi Rattan, an artist, who remained affiliated with Cultural Academy, Reeta Jitendra, an educationist, who served as Principal of several degree colleges in Jammu, Dr Jitender Udhampuri, who had only retired as Director of All India Radio, Jammu and was a prominent writer, H S Gupta, former Development Commissioner, Power and Lalita Sharma, a social worker also figured in the list of awardees. Whereas Sanjeev Pargal, Jammu Bureau Chief of Daily Excelsior is the only jornalist from the Jammu region, who is being honoured with the State Award, in best journalist category.
