| Chaman questions; where is college for Paddar | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 19 Challenging the rationale for selection of places for opening of the new colleges by the Congress led coalition of the state, the former Union Minister and a senior leader of the BJP, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has questioned that why no college has been opened at far off Paddar and why this area rich in forest and mineral wealth is being continuously neglected, but for communal and regional considerations. Addressing a rally at Paddar, Prof. Gupta alleged that dynastic Congress is the most communal and dangerous organization as far as the national interests and unity of the country was concerned. He recalled that by cheating the people of undivided India in 1947, the Congress accepted the communal partition of the country to have a theoretic State of Pakistan. Again in 1948, when the Indian troops were fast advancing in liberating the Pak-occupied areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the leadership of this party opted for cease-fire with Pakistan and thus, one third of this state still remains under occupation of the invaders. Not only this, so-called Special Status was granted to Jammu and Kashmir to further the communal thinking, Prof. Gupta added and observed that this separate status for the state had led to breeding of separatism, fundamentalism and subsequently terrorism which had come to be a big challenge for humanity. To further substantiate his charge, the BJP leader said that to woo the communal feelings, Jammu region is being denied due representation in the State Assembly and other spheres of life. He regretted that even those Central schemes were scuttled which were taken up for execution with a national outlook. In this regard, Prof. Gupta pointed out that a road to link Paddar areas with adjoining Pandi in Himachal was taken up but the execution of this project has virtually come to a halt after the Congress led UPA came to power at the centre. Similarly, little progress has been made on the construction of highly strategic bridge at Basohli which he had managed the inclusion of it in the Defence Ministry when he was a Minister for State there. Prof. Gupta also disputed the national thinking of the ruling leaders of the State questioning that why the Bhaderwah-Chamba road linking this state with Himachal has been closed down just because this could help in developing tourism in this hilly belt full of natural bounties. The local leaders including the Distt. President Akshay Kumar, former President Brij Mohan Sharma, Mandal President Janki Nath Thakur levelled serious charges of discrimination against the people of Paddar and pointed out that last year there was devasting fire but till date no help was provided to the sufferers where in Marwa-Wadwan area the Chief Minister himself visited there twice to distributed the relief. Similarly, there was accident when a bus rolled down in the river Chenab in which as many as 29 passengers were killed but so far no relief has been provided. He listed a plethora of complaints against the functioning of the various state government and maintained that for the people of Paddar the secularism of these rulers has come to be a big hoax. The meeting was presided over Sarpanch Janki. |
