| Governor releases autobiography of Padma Sachdev | | Sinha’s scholarly tribute to poetess | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 19 Quoting a Sanskrit sentence that the mother and motherland is dearer than Heaven while lauding the literary works of eminent Dogri writer Padma Sachdev on the release of her auto-biography ‘Chit-Chite’, Governor Lt. General (Retd) S K Sinha wished it to be yet another addition to the rich literature of Duggarland. ‘It is very appropriate for Padmaji to dedicate the book penned in her mother-tongue and published from her motherland to her mother’, General Sinha said.. The book was released at Zorawar Singh Auditorium of Jammu University this afternoon in presence of a galaxy of who’s who of the fields of art and literature. He presented the first copy of the 662-page publication to Professor Amitabh Mattoo, Vice Chancellor, to whom the credit goes for having the book published by the Department of Dogri of the University. The Governor complimented the poetess for her contribution in the field of literature and hoped that the latest publication will also prove to be a best seller. He was much impressed by the melodious recitation of Padma Sachdev’s poems by noted singers of the State at the book release function. General Sinha hailed the imitative and effort of Professor Mattoo and University of Jammu in bringing out the book. Displaying the wit she is known for, Padma Sachdev summed up her autobiography in the words of Sahir Ludhyanvi..”Duniya Mein Tajrubatoon Hawadis Ki Shakal Mein, Jo Kuch Mujhe Diya Hai Woh Luta Raha Hun Mein’. She thanked the Governor for his blessings on her latest work. Expressing her gratitude to Professor Amitabh Mattoo and the University of Jammu, Padmashri Padma Sachdev showered blessings on the young Vice Chancellor and quoted famous Urdu poet Faiz “Faiz Thi Rah Sarbasar Manzil, Hum Jahan Pahunche Kamyaab Huye’. She said that her upbringing has been mostly at Srinagar where she learned much about Lala Ded, Arin Maal and Habba khatoon. ‘’Their lives and contribution inspired me a lot in the scenic ambience of the Valley’, she said, adding that from the very childhood this inspiration led her to the world of literature. Sachdev also thanked noted writer, Dr Archana Kaiser, Mr Sham Raina and Mr Anil Goswami for making it possible to release this book. In his message, the Vice Chancellor exuded confidence that Mrs Sachdev’s autobiography will be read widely. Prominent writers, senior faculty, students and prominent citizens were present on the occasion. Padma Sachdev was profusely greeted for her works. The Governor, the Vice Chancellor and Mrs Sachdev were given mementos as a mark of affection by the organizers. |
