| Fake currency racket busted | | Two government employees among four arrested | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 19 A joint team of Rajouri and City Jammu police busted a fake currency racket active in the city and other border districts of the state and recovered about Rs 50,000 in total from their possession. According to reports last evening after the arrest of two government employees at main bazaar Rajouri with 20 thousand rupees in fake currency the joint team of police arrested two more persons in this regard from Jammu City from a hotel at Shalamar road. The arrested persons have been identified as Fiyaz and Amin both residents of Anantnag, Kashmir. It is pertinent to mention here that Rajouri Police last evening arrested two government employees from the Rajouri town involved in circulating fake currency in the state. Following their preliminary interrogation the investigating Rajouri police team received the inputs that two more persons of the same racket were staying in a hotel in Jammu city. Following the specific information about the two persons of the racket in the city the joint team raided the specific hotel situated at Shalamar and recovered fake currency worth Rs 27000/- from their possession. Reports said that last night a Rajouri Police team following the specific information from the arrested duo arrived Jammu and contacted the city police for the arrest of two persons who were staying in a hotel. The joint team swung into action and raided the hotel at Sahalamar and arrested two persons with the fake currency worth Rs 27,000. The arrested persons have been identified as Fiyaz and Amin both resident of Anantnag, Kashmir and today the Rajouri police took them to Rajouri for further interrogation. Further to recall here that Rajouri Police last evening arrested two government employees namely Khalil Mirza resident of Thanamandi employee in Rural Development Department and Fazal Hussain resident of Darhal a teacher along with a cache of fake currency worth Rs 20,000 from their possession when they were busy in exchanging it for the real one in the market and during interrogation they told two more persons name who were arrested from the city. SDPO City Swantantra Arora confirmed the arrest of the two persons with fake currency in a hotel and said that a joint team of city and Rajouri police arrested them with 27 thousand of rupees of fake currency and the arrested persons later shifted to Rajouri for further interrogation. Sources said the seized fake currency notes contained one thousand and five hundreds rupee notes and after their interrogation some more recoveries are likely. Sources added the main kingpin in the racket was not arrested as last reports came in and the police launched a hunt to nab him in the area. Police has also registered a case in this regard and investigating the matter. |
