The pair of Rahul Sharma and Gurvinder Singh retained the runners-up trophy losing to Tiruvanthanapuram in final of doubles badminton competition in the 25th Silver Jubilee Inter-RBI Sports Meet held at Mumbai recently.
However, they could not make it to the final of team event in badminton and lost to the same side of Tiruvanthanapuram in the quarterfinals. “Though we have maintained our position in the doubles, but the team could not retain the runners-up trophy despite the fact that it was a close contest against Tiruvanthanapuram”, Gurvinder Singh told SAN.
In table tennis, the medal prospect, Dheeraj Arora could not do much and was defeated in the quarterfinals. Still the team salvaged some pride making it to the semifinals and winning the joint third place.
In the meantime, all rounder Dheeraj excelled in the solo song competition.
