| Four crore revenue generated from timber sale | | | Early Times Reporter Sringar | Dec 21 Jammu and Kashmir government has earned a revenue of Rs four crore from the sale of around 3.31 lakh cubic feet of timber in Kashmir division this year. The forest department has earned a revenue of Rs four crore on account of sale of 3.31 lakh cubic of timber so far while a target of five lakh cft of timber has been fixed for the remaining period of the year, an official spokesman said after a meeting chaired by Forest Minister Qazi Mohammad Afzal here. The meeting was informed that more than five lakh cft of timber have been dumped in the sale depots of forest department in Kashmir division and there was no scarcity or shortage of timber in the valley. He said the meeting recommended a compassionate appointment and bravery award for next of the kin of an employee of forest department of Anantnag division who died while fighting fire in forest in Noorabad area. The department earned Rs 54.20 lakh from sale of confiscated timber from smuggler while 476 horses and 101 vehicles which were used for smuggling have been seized. |
