| Tata’s Rallis to setup agrochem unit in Jammu | | | Kolkata | Dec 21
Rallis India Ltd (RIL), a Tata Group company and a leading player in India's agrochemical market, is planning to set up two agrochemical facilities in the country at an investment of Rs.2 billion.
'The units will come up at Jammu and at Dahej in Gujarat with a cumulative investment of about Rs.2 billion. The Jammu facility will be a formulation unit. The investment will be through internal accruals and we are building up our resources to fund these two projects,' RIL CEO and Executive Director V. Shankar told a press conference here Friday.
He said the Dahej facility would come up in a special economic zone (SEZ) in the area.
Shankar said the company is also looking at opportunities to increase its international business.
'Presently, about 22 percent of Rallis' total business comes from its international operations,' he said.
RIL currently has five manufacturing units - three in Maharashtra and one each in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.
Rallis India Friday also launched 'Takumi', an insecticide to control caterpillars.
The product, invented by Japanese company Nihon Nohyaku, was developed by RIL at its Ankleswar plant in Gujarat this year. |
