IEWU to hold dharna

Industrial Estate Workers’ Union (IEWU) stage dharna at I.E Extension, Satwari, Jammu on 24 Dec. 2007 against the illegal termination of workers by the management of M/S Free India Gun Manufacturers. It was decided in the meeting of executive committee headed by President of the Union H.D. Bhowmik.
While briefing the meeting Bhowmik lamented over the exploitation of workers and said that in spite of Labour Commissioner’s efforts to implements labours laws employers do not care about them. He said that workers are continuously cheering by their employers. He said that Union would not barn such cruelties and such stage dharna against them.
Bhukari demands opening of Degree College at Surankote

The MLA, Surankote, Mustaq Ahmed Bukhari criticized the functioning of state coalition government in neglecting district Poonch as for as development is concerned.
Addressing media persons here today MLA said in 2002 in a meeting of cabinet cum district development board approved the opening of Degree College at Surankote, but till date no action has been taken place in this regard.
He asked the government that keeping in view the genuine demand and aspirations of the people of Surankote government should announce opening of Degree College at Surankote failing which he will have no other option than to resign from the membership of the legislative assembly. He said if Choudhary, Mohd. Aslam Member Parliament has any sympathy for people of Surankote he should also resign as coalition govt. headed by Congress has failed to respect the demand of Surankote people.
The people of Surankote irrespective of caste, creed and color are feeling neglected by the coalition government if government does not open degree college people will come out on streets, he warned.
Bukhari said he shall be sitting on Dharna outside Raj Bhawan on 26th of December, and will also submit a memorandum to the governor.
