| Private Airlines misses luggage, drop passengers in Jammu | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 22 A private airline operator on Saturday received flak from a group of J&K bound passengers as they lost their luggage in transit on Saturday morning. The incident came to light when passengers traveling on board Go Air flight between Mumbai and Jammu landed here in Jammu without their luggage. The passengers, majority of them being tourists, could not go further with their travel schedule in the absence of luggage and were stranded in Jammu airport till late afternoon. After waiting for over two hours when these passengers were not accommodated nor given due compensation by the air line staff they resorted to loud sloganeering triggering angry protests inside Jammu airport. According to reports, after landing in Jammu at around 10 am when passengers were waiting for their luggage they were informed by the airline staff that their luggage had not arrived in Jammu. The airline staff in Mumbai when contacted by the passengers initially feigned ignorance about the whereabouts of the luggage but later admitted that due to some technical error the luggage of Jammu bound passengers was misplaced at Mumbai airport. The air line authorities also made every effort to pacify the stranded passengers claiming that they were making alternative arrangements but passengers alleged that no one from the airline contacted them and compensated them for the inconvenience caused to them. Majority of passengers alleged that no one from the Go Air is willing to come forward and help them locate their luggage. “We are waiting here with our children without food and water but no one from the Go Air has come forward to take care of our needs”,Manish Goenka said outside Jammu airport. Passengers alleged that tight security arrangements inside the airport area was preventing them from moving freely in the area and blamed security forces who harassed them |
