Workshop on industrial automation held

Undertaking a unique trend in engineering sector to make entrepreneurs savvy about the novel techniques being inculcated in this variegated field, a couple of enthusiasts vying for this aspect launched the concept in Jammu that took of with flying colours in its maiden attempt.
Vikas Razdan and Akhil Kumar Sharma of Mahant Bachhitar Singh College of Engineering and Technology took the initiative to device a workshop on engineering aspect involving industrial automation that deliberated in length about the finest details of the changing environs in engineering modes. This included a lecture on SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), one of the significant aspects attached to the field which elaborates about the on desk monitoring and control of big corporate houses without much ado. Besides, another important aspects on Programmable Logical Control Units (PLC’s), Human Machine Interface (HMI) were dwelt in length by the delegates from Intelligent Control and Automation (DOLPHIN Group Delhi) invited here by these students of final year who organized the show as Event Organisors and were aptly supported by Ajay Sharma and Iqbal Kour, Event Managers who chipped in with all important designs to make it a grand success.
The workshop was organized at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University in which above four hundred students from MCA and all the three Engineering Colleges took active participation. The main aim of the workshop was to make engineering students aware of the latest technologies being adopted in industrial automation. In the workshop the demo and selected live projects and an overview of doing programming in SCADA was shown to the students.
Binny Dogra, Asst Director, CFP who graced the occasion on behalf of Dr. Meenakshi Kilam Director College Development lay emphasis on the emerging trends in the engineering sector and called upon the students to be abreast with the latest technologies being adopted in various fields.
On the spot, test of the students was taken by the I-CON-A and in the process 5 toppers were selected for a 50% discount on their courses and the first among them has been given preference for a placement in their client list. Gurukul Institute of Education played main role in organizing the workshop.
