| JKNPP apprehensive of fairness in elections | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 23 Fearing rigging in coming elections in the state, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party has demanded that coming assembly elections should be held under the observation of National independent observers and governor rule if the centre is interested to see the end of militancy in the state. Adressing media persons in a press conference here on Sunday, President JKNPP Prof. Bhim Singh alleged that Poonch Haveli bye-elections clearly indicates that the coalition government headed by Congress has made its mind to retain power at any cost; which is a matter of great concern for other political parties of the state. "The way the Congress utilized the government machinery during by-elections of Haveli Poonch, it clearly indicates that the coming Assembly elections would be unfair," he said. However, he said that Panthers’ Party would fight tooth and nail to foil all the intensions of congress led coalition government. "Free and fair environment should be created for conduction of free and fair elections and for that purpose we are going to hand over a memorandum to Prime Minister and Chief Election Commissioner of India in couple of days," he added. "We national and regional parties recognized by the election commissioner of India will form a panel in the State in near future before elections and submit a memorandum to President of India requesting her for conduction of fair poll in the state", he added He revealed that Hurriyat leadership is contemplating to contest coming elections provided centre assured them of free and fairness of elections. Stressing that it is a golden era for the union to ensure peace in the Jammu and Kashmir and it is only possible if people are allowed to utilize their right to vote with out any fear or pressure. |
