| JKFA starts preparing for Santosh Trophy | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 23 After being confirmed as host for the 62nd edition of the Santosh Trophy today in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) held at New Delhi, the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) has started preparing for the mega event. Soon after receiving a phone call that the state has been allotted the national football tournament in the Executive Committee meeting of AIFF at New Delhi late yesterday evening, the top officials of the JKFA started the work at the ground level. “We are happy that finally the prestigious event has been allotted to J&K after a gap of nearly 30 years. Now, it is our turn to gear up for the mega event by preparing our self on different departments,” general secretary of JKFA Bashir Malik told SAN. He disclosed that a Central Executive Council meeting would be held in the next week at Jammu to discuss the modalities and also to pass on duties and responsibilities to the cadre within the Association. “We have come to know that even the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad is anxious to hold a high level meeting involving officials of different departments associated with the conduct of the event directly or indirectly very soon,” said Malik. When asked about the preparations for the state team, “though selecting a team is the responsibility of the Selection Committee of the Association, yet we are thinking on holding a two-month long special camp for the prospective players so as to raise a competitive side,” disclosed the general secretary. |
