| PDP deputation from Anantnag, Pulwama calls on S S Bloeria | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 24 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made a representation to the Administrative Delimitation Commission headed by S S Bloeria demanding creation and reorganization of new administrative units in the twin districts of Anantnag and Pulwama. A deputation of the PDP office-bearers from Anantnag and Pulwama led by Mohammad Sartaj Madni, MLA and Political Secretary, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain called on S S Boeria here today and submitted him a detailed memorandum from the area regarding the creation of new administrative units. In the said memorandum submitted to Bloeria, the PDP has demanded tehsil status to Qazigund. Justifying the demand of Tehsil status for Qazigund, Mohammad Sartaj Madni argued before the commission that Qazigund is not only a gateway to the Kashmir valley, but the town already has several established offices including Agrarain Tehsildar, Munsiff Court, Police Station, Block Development Office, Block Medical Office, R&B Division, PHE Division and Sub-Division Irrigation. Besides, a Tourist Reception Center is also coming up in the town. PDP MLA Madini reasoned the case saying in light of all these facts, Qazigund deserves to be declared a Tehsil headquarter with three more Nayabats at Kund, Vessu and Kilam. He also demanded setting up of a CD&NES Block at Vessu. Regarding the reorganization of the administrative units in other areas of the two districts, the PDP leaders proposed Tehsil status for Qaimoh (Kulgam), Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office for Pahalgam, creation of two more Nayabats in the Pahalgam constituency with one each at Aishmuqam and Sallar, creation of CD&NES Block for South Kuthaar in Shangus constituency, tehsil status for Kellar in district Shopian, tehsil status for Litter in district Pulwama, creation of CD&NES Block at Tahab (Pulwama) and reorganization and annexation of Pakherpora area with district Pulwama. The PDP deputation held threadbare discussion with the Commission members over its demands stressing the necessity for creation of the proposed administrative units. The Commission has assured the deputation that their demands would be taken care of while finalizing the recommendations. Meanwhile, PDP has asked all its district units to prepare separate memorandums for the administrative reorganization of their respective areas to be placed before the commission for appropriate action. |
