| Bhalla seeks flyover between bikram chowk convent crossing | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 24 Congress legislator Raman Bhalla on Monday demanded early construction of a flyover between Bikram chowk to convent crossing to check growing traffic congestion in the area. Congress MLA raised the demand in front of the chief Minister during his interaction with him. Bhalla also apprised the chief Minister with the problems of residents of Nai Basti/ Hajipur,Rampur at Satwari .Bhalla met the chief Minister along with a deputation of local residents. Referring to traffic congestion between Bikram Chowk and convent crossing Bhalla told Chief Minister that the construction of the flyover is already approved and asked for immediate start of the construction of the flyover. He also informed the chief Minister that the residents living on the two banks of a nallah in Nai Basti have been served with notices of eviction. The residents informed the CM that they have been living on the site since 60 years ad have constructed own residential houses and shops.They pleaded that being poor people they are not in a position to pay the value of the land.The deputation demanded that their case may be considered under the Roshni act as they are ready to deposit the amount under the Act.Chif Minister after giving a patient hearing to the demands of the local residents directed the Revenue secretary to go through the relevant documents and discuss the course of action to be taken in the matter. Congress legislator also projected demands of Gorkha and valmiki communities and emphasized the need to expedite construction work on the stretch of he National highway from Satwari to Kunjwani for smooth flow of traffic. |
