Uri, Bhasin among honoured by CM for promotion of Dogri

At a function organized to commemorate the inclusion of Dogri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution four years ago, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today honoured five eminent personalities with mementos and a shawl each for their contribution in development and promotion of Dogri language and literature.
The recipients include veteran writers, Padamshri Prof. Ram Nath Shastri and D. C. Prashant, former Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof. M. R. Puri, noted journalist and Chairman, Kashmir Times Group of Publications, Ved Bhasin and former Education Minister, Muhammad Shafi Uri. Prashant was not present due to his ill health.
The Chief Minister congratulated the five personalities for their valuable contribution to the promotion and enrichment of Dogri language. He released two books in Dogri titled Sheesha by Madan Padha and Geetasar by Praduman Singh Jindrahia. He also released the New Year greeting card and calendar brought out by the Academy of Art, Culture & Languages.
The function was jointly organized by Dogri Sanstha Jammu and Academy of Art, Culture & Languages. A large number of well-known writers, academicians, media persons, prominent citizens and lovers of Dogri language attended the function. Principal Secretary, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, A. K. Angurana and Secretary, Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Dr. Rafiq Masoodi were also present.
A brief cultural programme comprising Dogri songs and enactment of poetry was also presented and highly appreciated by the audience.
Earlier, President, Dogri Sanstha, Prof. Lalit Magotra gave a brief account of the progress made in Dogri language and literature during the past six decades. He made a special mention of the contribution of the eminent persons felicitated in today's function for promotion of Dogri language and literature.
General Secretary, Dogri Sanstha, Prof. Veena Gupta read out citations of the five personalities.
Azad also felicitated Ghulam Muhammad on receiving Sangeet Natak Academy Puraskar.
