| Constable commits bolly-wood style theft; Lands in Police Custody | | | Jammu, July 04: A police constable in crime and railways branch Jammu has landed in police custody for stealing an AK-47 riffle from the security guard deployed at the residence of senior National conference leader and demanding rupees fifty thousand for returning of the weapon. Sources in police department said that the constable decamped with the official weapon of the security guard and demanded huge amount of money in lieu of the weapon. Though the bollywood style theft committed by the cop has kept the top police officials were tight lipped. Sources said that the constable has been arrested and lodged in city police station. Giving details a senior police officer, on the condition of anonymity, said that the delinquent constable identified as Mohd Khalil was already facing inquiry for allegedly cheating a female nursing student. The accused constable is reportedly posted in crime and railways Jammu and is presently under suspension. It was reliably learnt that on Saturday evening the constable went to the house of Senior NC leader Mohd Aslam Goni' s guard room and decamp with the official weapon of the security guard posted there in a filmi style. After stealing Ak-47, accused cop demanded rupees fifty thousand in lieu of the weapon from them. Police constable posted at Goni's guard reported the matter to senior officers and the deal was also fixed in a filmi style. The accused cop however agrees on rupees thirty thousand and asked them to (Police) to keep money near a stone in Bahu fort area. A police constable in dropped a bag carrying money at the specified location and recover the gun from the spot. After recovery of the official weapon, Sources said start investigation and succeeded in tracing the phone number and arrested the constable who was later identified as Khalil Mohd posted in Crime and railways branch of the premier investigating agency of the state. When contacted senior NC leader Mohd Aslam Goni confirmed the theft and said the weapon has been recovered. Sources added that the mater has been reported to director general of police. It is not perhaps for the first time that police is hiding the misdeeds of their own constables posted in such a sensitive departments. It is pertinent to mention here that News Agency of Kashmir carried a story regarding a nursing student who was cheated by a cop. Sources said that accused Khalil is the same constable who is already under suspention in a pending inquiry
