| After Kathua, meat bag hits Nagrota | | Police suspect mischief, samples sent to labs | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 24 Close to the hot heels of widespread unrest and disturbance in Kathua following a sacrilegious act, a devil's brain today worked at Nagrota, on the outskirts of Jammu City. A bag with inscriptions of Jamat-e-Islami was this morning found outside a shop in Nagrota. On being spotted the nature of bag caused suspicion among the locals. When opened the Khaki coloured bag was found carrying fresh pieces of meat. It could not be immediately ascertained as what was the motive of throwing such a bag in a busy market. The Police immediately swung into action and started the investigations. According to a Jammu Police spokesman, at around 11.30 this morning, a polythene bag with Jamat-e-Islami written on it, camouflaged in a Khaki Bag, containing meat was found outside the shop of one Koushal Kumar near Toll Post Nagrota. If the meat was thrown to cause some unrest, the reason for Jamat-e-Islami tag is being ascertained by the authorities. Case FIR No. 333/2007 has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and the raw meat has been sent to veterinary surgeons for expert opinion. The Police said that this act has been done by some mischievous element with vested interest to disturb the communal harmony in Jammu. "Public are requested to maintain calm and be careful of such un-scrupulous elements who are hell bent on disturbing the communal harmony and peace in the area. They are also requested to immediately inform the Police Control Room or nearest Police Station about such mischievous/suspicious activities so that the evil and nefarious designs of such elements could be effectively thwarted and neutralized", said a Police spokesman. |
