Jammu | Dec 25
Bowling out J&K for 215 runs, Rajasthan today managed a first innings lead of 87 runs to consolidate their position in the semifinal of Cooch Behar under-19 cricket tournament on the second day at IOF Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
Despite brilliant knocks from all-rounder, Parvez Rasool and skipper Ram Dayal, J&K could not do well and the whole side bowed out for 215 runs in 70 overs in the post lunch session. While Parvez made 70 runs, Ram Dayal was superb in his strikes to contribute valuable 53 runs to the total. In their first innings, Rajasthan made 302 runs.
However, knowing that the batsmen have not been able to do much, J&K bowlers started well in the second innings and reduced Rajasthan to 15 for three. But the experienced side built up the score steadily bringing the total to 82 for four in 30.5 overs when the stumps were drawn. Mohd Muddassir was most successful with two for 29 in 10 overs while Adnan Nazir and Pervez Rasool shared one wicket each. With 82 runs in their account, the overall total of Rajasthan has gone up to 169 runs.
The results at the end of day-two of the play indicate that the semi-final is evenly poised. In case the J&K bowlers succeed in taking a couple of early wickets tomorrow, the first timers in the semi-final (J&K) would certainly be in a commanding position.
