Hosts Jammu and Udhampur districts excelled on the opening day of the two-day inter-district state level athletics meet for boys under-17 year group organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at University of Jammu grounds, here today.
Out of the four events decided today, Jammu and Udhampur shared two gold each thereby completely dominating both field and track events.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Deputy Director DYSS, S A Wani. Assistant Director, S S Bali, district officer, Bhaskar Nath Bhat, Pushpa Sharma and nodal officer Ramban, Rajender Singh Katoch
In all, 16 districts are taking part in this two-day meet in various field and track events.

Discus Throw: Raju Kumar, Jammu, Ist; Vinod Singh, Udhampur, 2nd and Zahoor Ahmed Ahanger, Bandipore, third. 800 mts race: Vishal Kumar, Udhampur, Ist; Raj Singh, Rajouri, 2nd and Mohd Waseem, Poonch, third. 3000 mts race: Johni Kumar, Jammu, Ist; Mohinder Singh, Udhampur, 2nd and Ram Parkash, Reasi, third. 1500 mts race: Chaman Singh, Udhampur, Ist; Rohit Sharma, Jammu, 2nd and Abdul Majid Bhat, Baramulla, third. |
