| Prem Sagar for improving working capacity of officers | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 26 Minister of State for Revenue, Planning, Finance Law and Parliamentary Affairs Prem Sagar Aziz inaugurated 3-day workshop on "Project Planning and Management" here today. The workshop was organized by Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, New Delhi in joint collaboration with Directorate of Economics and Statistics and Water and Power conservation (I) Limited. Addressing the workshop, Prem Sagar said that the aim of conducting this workshop was to enhance working capacity of the officers in their respective fields by providing them latest training. He said the workshop would cover various subjects related to project formulation, appraisal and monitoring techniques, adding it was necessary for transferring the knowledge and skills to the State functionaries for better Project Management and their successful implementation. Referring to 11th Five Year Plan, the Minister said that the outlay for J&K State has been adopted for Rs. 25834 crore which is 78 percent higher than the previous plan. The capital component of the plan constitutes 87 percent of the total plan outlay; he said and added that the investment for the vital sectors like education, health, road connectivity and power is 4 times higher than the previous plan.
Sagar said, "the Planning Commission has been laying emphasis on improving the monitoring mechanism for timely and successful implementation of the Projects within the approved cost and time frame for which it is organizing capacity development programmes for the Central and State Government Organizations". The Minister hoped that the deliberations during the workshop would prove useful for up-dating and upgrading the knowledge and skills of the participants in Project Management. Joint Advisor Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation J. L. Narayan, Principal Secretary General Administration Department Khurseed Ahmad Ganai, Director Statistics and Planning G. A. Quarshi, Special Secretary Planning Mrs. Roma Wani also addressed the participants in the workshop. |
